The Most Powerful Women

Forbes Magazine just unveiled its 100 Most Powerful Women in the World. Do you agree with their picks? What do you think?

Here are their the top ten:

1. Michelle Obama

2. Irene Rosenfeld (Chief Executive, Kraft Foods)

3. Oprah Winfrey

4. Angela Merkel (Chancellor, Germany)

5. Hillary Clinton

6. Indra Nooya (Chief Executive PepsiCo)

7. Lady Gaga

8. Gail Kelly (Chief Executive, Westpac)

9. Beyonce Knowles

10. Ellen Degeneres

Also included in the Forbes List are a couple of my personal favorites:

Martha Stewart: I love what she’s done as a business woman. Even now, a woman pushing 70, she runs circles around women half her age. A few years ago when she messed up and was sent to jail, everyone counted her out…said she was done. Bit Martha did her time with grace…and came back as strong as ever.

Cathie Black (Hearst Magazines): I met Cathie in New York when she spoke for National Speakers Association. Her book, Basic Black, is a wealth of good sense information. For example, women are often afraid to take risks at work. She says, “The trick is to think about risk in the right way and use it to your advantage. Most people see taking risks as opening themselves up to unnecessary, maybe even dangerous, chance. The truth is, avoiding risk won’t keep you safe, nor will it guarantee a smooth ride at work or in life.” Basic Black is worth reading!

Andrea Jung (Chief Executive, Avon Products): Since she took over, the Avon product line went from being my mother’s sachet cream scents to having one of the best age defying lines at an affordable price. And I never go hiking without Skin-So-Soft.

Rachel Ray: She took her passion for cooking and turned it into an empire. I’m not much of a cook (I prefer baking), but I like her easy-to-follow recipes – even I have time to make them. Her shows are fresh, fun and down-to-earth.
